AirAsia X has officially entered the Turkish market with the successful completion of its first direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Istanbul. The aircraft departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 and landed at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport as scheduled.

As part of its new route, AirAsia X announced that it will operate Kuala Lumpur–Istanbul flights four times a week. The airline emphasized that Türkiye’s strategic location and growing tourism potential make this route a significant opportunity for expansion.

The inaugural flight event was managed by Walther Kranz on behalf of AirAsia X. AirAsia X executives, airport officials, and invited guests attended the welcome ceremony, where the strengthening of tourism and aviation ties between the two countries was highlighted.

The new route is expected to boost travel between Türkiye and Southeast Asia and enhance regional connectivity.
